01You're in. Sunday, 7PM EST.T-0 / instant
Preview Hey, it's Ryan.
Hey, it's Ryan. You just grabbed your seat for The Vintage Jewelry ID Method, and I want to tell you what this actually is before you forget you signed up. For 25 plus years now, my family has been buying and selling vintage costume jewelry. Momma Sue, Papa Harry, my sister Susan, and me. We've handled thousands of pieces at this point, and the one skill that separates a $3 flat bin brooch from something worth real money is knowing who made it and checking what it actually sold for before you ever price it. That's the whole training. I'm walking you through how I read a maker signature, how I pull real eBay sold comps, and how a piece that looks like nothing can turn out to be worth a whole lot more once you know what you're looking at. Do me a favor and get it on your calendar right now so it doesn't slip. Here's your spot again. Save your seat Catch you in the next one. Peace. Ryan
02A $3.25 brooch and a $4,550 broochT-9d
Preview So here's the one that got me when I was researching this.
So here's the one that got me when I was researching this. I was going through jewelry maker by maker, alphabet style, pulling the top sold listings for each name. Got to Alva Studios. A signed round brooch sold for $3.25. Six bids. Not a great sale, but it sold. Then I got to Alfred Philippe, the designer behind a lot of the early Crown Trafari pieces. Same category, costume jewelry, glass and rhinestone, no real gold or diamonds. One of those brooches sold for $4,550. Thirteen bids. Same kind of item on the surface. A few thousand dollars apart in what it actually sold for. The only real difference is the signature on the back and whether anybody checked what that name is worth before they priced it. I go through exactly how to spot that difference live on Sunday. Save your seat Catch you in the next one. Peace. Ryan
03How Mama Sue actually prices this stuffT-7d
Preview People ask me all the time how we come up with our prices. It's not a guess.
People ask me all the time how we come up with our prices. It's not a guess. Everything that goes out of Triple V gets priced under what it actually sold for on eBay. If something's listed at $12, chances are it sold for closer to $20 once somebody actually looked it up. That's on purpose. Mama Sue goes through the pieces by hand, does the research, and prices it that way so nobody gets surprised, us or the buyer. That's the same method I'm handing you Sunday. Not a vibe, not a guess based on how a piece looks. The real sold price, pulled before you ever put a number on something. Save your seat Catch you in the next one. Peace. Ryan
04Why I'm running four Whatnot shows a week right nowT-5d
Preview Quick update on why things look a little different around here lately.
Quick update on why things look a little different around here lately. Josie's pregnant, and I've taken over running her Whatnot lives on top of my own. So right now that's Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, all at 7PM, plus everything else that goes into keeping Triple V moving. It's a lot, and I'm not going to pretend it isn't. It's also exactly why I wanted to do this training instead of just another sale video. If you know how to read a maker signature and check a sold comp yourself, you don't need me standing over your shoulder every time you're deciding what something's worth. I'll show you exactly how I do it, live, Sunday at 7PM EST. Save your seat Catch you in the next one. Peace. Ryan
05Gotta do our multiplication hereT-4d
Preview If you've caught one of my sales, you've probably heard me say that line while I'm measuring a piece with a ruler on camera.
If you've caught one of my sales, you've probably heard me say that line while I'm measuring a piece with a ruler on camera. I don't eyeball a length and call it close enough. I measure it, I say the number out loud, and if it's a double strand or I have to fold it in half to get it on the ruler, I do the math right there so you can see it. Same thing goes for pricing. I don't call a number out because it feels right. I check it. That's the habit this whole training is built around. Measure it. Look it up. Then price it. Not the other way around. Save your seat Catch you in the next one. Peace. Ryan
06I don't trust a number I haven't checked myselfT-3d
Preview Somebody could tell me a piece is worth $50 and I'm still going to go pull the sold comps myself before I believe it. Even my own memory isn't good enough. I've been wrong before about what something sells for, and the only fix is checking, every time.
Somebody could tell me a piece is worth $50 and I'm still going to go pull the sold comps myself before I believe it. Even my own memory isn't good enough. I've been wrong before about what something sells for, and the only fix is checking, every time. That's the standard for Sunday too. I'm not getting up there and telling you a piece is worth something because it sounds right. I'm pulling the actual sold listings, on screen, so you can see exactly where the number comes from. Real research, not a guess dressed up as expertise. Save your seat Catch you in the next one. Peace. Ryan
07What to have ready SundayT-2d
Preview Two days out. Here's what I'd grab before we go live Sunday at 7PM EST.
Two days out. Here's what I'd grab before we go live Sunday at 7PM EST. A notebook or a note on your phone. I move through real maker names and real sold prices fast, and you'll want to jot a few down. If you've got a piece sitting in a drawer somewhere signed Trafari, Napier, Avon, or anything you've never looked into, keep it nearby. Even better if you've got a few different signed pieces to compare as I go. That's it. No special software, nothing to install. Just show up and bring your eyes. Save your seat Catch you in the next one. Peace. Ryan
08One more thing before Sunday, no pressureT-1d
Preview One day out, so let me be straight about how this works.
One day out, so let me be straight about how this works. The training stands on its own. I'm handing you the real method, live, and you can take it and go dig through your own jewelry box with it. Plenty of people are going to do exactly that. At the end, I'll also show you The A-List, ten real maker signatures with real sold comp ranges pulled straight from my Letter A research, one time, $27. It's the cheat sheet version of what I'm teaching live, for when you're out sourcing and don't want to dig back through the video. It's completely optional. Come for the training either way. Save your seat Catch you in the next one. Peace. Ryan
09Tomorrow night, 7PM ESTT-24h
Preview We go live tomorrow night. Quick reminder so it doesn't sneak up on you.
We go live tomorrow night. Quick reminder so it doesn't sneak up on you. I'm walking through how I identify a maker signature, how I pull the real sold comps, and how the price gap between a signed and unsigned piece can run into the thousands. Bring that notebook, and grab a piece from your own collection if you've got one handy. This isn't a polished highlight reel. It's the same unscripted, garage-studio version of me you'd get on any of our sales, humidity and all. Tomorrow, 7:00 PM EST. Here's your link one more time. Save your seat Catch you in the next one. Peace. Ryan
10We're starting in 15 minutesT-15min
Preview This is it. We go live in fifteen minutes.
This is it. We go live in fifteen minutes. Grab your notebook, get comfortable, and get in the room. I'm walking through the exact method I use to tell a $3 piece from a piece worth real money, live, no editing, mistakes left in. Get in now so you don't miss the start. Join the training Sheesh, let's go. Ryan
